Jesus uses many parables and allegories to teach things concerning the Kingdom of God and the Son of Man. In the parable of the good shepherd, Jesus tells His hearers that He is not only the gate for the sheep, but He is also the good shepherd. It is through Jesus that one enters into abundant life. The good shepherd lays his life down for the sheep. Can you imagine? This is what Jesus did for us. He laid His life down for us that we may have life and have it to the full.
