The disciples were distraught. Jesus’ prediction of His departure, betrayal, and Peter’s denial was too much to handle. It didn’t make any sense. Unsurprisingly, they began peppering Him with questions: “Where are you going?” “How do we know the way?” Philip also makes the request that Jesus show them the Father. Jesus responds, “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). He knows what they need. He answers their questions and their doubts with a promise and a message of peace.
