John 17 is the pinnacle of the intimacy that we see in the Scriptures. It is the holy of holies of the New Testament. We are privileged to listen in as the Son converses with the Father as He is about to give up His life as a ransom. This passage is known as the “High Priestly Prayer.” In it, Jesus prays first for Himself. He then prays for His disciples. The amazing thing is that He doesn’t only include people such as Peter or Matthew—He also includes us! Jesus has made it so that we have open access to the Father through the Holy Spirit.
This session is part 68 of the 365 Key Chapters of the Bible series, based on Ken’s Handbook to Scripture.
