Ken Boa teaches on Luke 1 as part of his 365 Key Chapters of the Bible series, based on his Handbook to Scripture. He spends time providing an overview of this Gospel, which is the most comprehensive of the four and a beautifully written book focused on the perfect humanity of Jesus. Perhaps the theme verse of Luke is found in chapter 19: “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (verse 10).
Luke 1 features two of four great hymns found in Luke: the Magnificat of Mary (verses 46–55) and the Benedictus of Zacharias (67–79). (The third and fourth hymns are in chapter 2.) These hymns have become significant parts of churches that follow a liturgical worship tradition.
