Ken Boa teaches on Luke 7 as part of his 365 Key Chapters of the Bible series, based on his Handbook to Scripture. From the Handbook entry: “As Jesus progresses in His ministry of preaching, healing, and demonic expulsion, He encounters the dual response of growing belief and growing rejection. In this and the following chapters, Luke places particular stress on the perfect humanity as well as the kindness and compassion of Jesus.” Luke points to Jesus’ compassion on people from all classes of society (He was and is a “friend of sinners”).
This chapter prompts us to ask how we have responded and are continuing to respond to Jesus and His offer of compassion and forgiveness. We are to keep on seeking Him even after that first encounter; every day should be a day we are seeking, knocking, and finding Him.
