The earliest recorded sermons defend the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Isn’t that astounding? Despite the claims of many scholars, the resurrection is not a mere invention of early Christians designed to dupe followers into creating a new religion. Instead, as Acts 2 demonstrates, our faith is founded on facts. The resurrection and the empty tomb were near Jerusalem, where eyewitnesses could verify them. New Testament Scripture comes from these eyewitnesses and thus is reliable.
Through this New Testament witness and His Holy Spirit, God has chosen to reveal Himself to us. In His power, He preserved these documents for us so that we might better know Him. Likewise, God makes Himself known through the Holy Spirit, as Acts 2 describes. In this chapter of history, the disciples’ witness about Jesus Christ began in earnest through the power of the Holy Spirit.
