The story of Joshua and the battle of Jericho demonstrates that victory ultimately belongs to God. Even when we do not understand God, we must obey Him.
God does not do the same thing twice in the same way. The book of Joshua teaches us that He calls us to obedience, not to reliance on presuppositions. This means that when He calls us to do something unexpected, we must submit to Him and trust Him.
When fellow believers die, we can be moved with grief at our loss and with joy at their gain. Meditating on Scripture can help us cultivate this perspective in times of grief.
Jesus Christ reconciled us to God through His life, death, and resurrection. He took on our sin so that we might have peace with God. As a result of reconciliation, we are being transformed in this present darkness, learning to live out our identity in Christ.
