As Ken Boa begins to wrap up this series, he examines two “psalms of aspiration,” or psalms that inspire a deeper devotion to God. The first (the subject of this teaching) is Psalm 16, which has as its overarching theme “God is our supreme good and our inheritance.” Written by King David, the psalm is a wonderful affirmation of his single-minded commitment to the Lord. It portrays two present benefits (God’s guidance and assurance) and two future prospects (our eternal security in Christ and complete satisfaction in His loving presence) of our spiritual heritage.
