The book of Revelation begins by identifying to its first readers (the seven churches) who is addressing them: Jesus Christ. From Father to Son to the Apostle John, the message of the end of the ages is given through this book.
Chapter one prepares the reader by explaining through whom all things exist. Jesus, the First and the Last, the Alpha and the Omega, tells John of the things that are and the things which shall be (Revelation 1:8, 19).
