It is easy to forget that we are called to have a personal intimacy with Jesus Christ. We may have head knowledge, but we need more than that. We can have religion without Christ. But He wants us to have a personal relationship with Him in which we trust in Him rather than in our own abilities.
One way to remember this is through meditating on the life of Christ in us. Not only did He give His life for us to bring us to salvation, but He also called us to sanctification. We were, in a real sense, co-crucified with Christ. As we abide with Christ, we also serve Him, bearing much fruit.
