In the upper room discourse (John 13–17), John records several instances where Jesus promises the coming of the Comforter. This was the One who would guide the disciples in truth. He would also bring to remembrance all that Jesus had taught the disciples. A few days after the ascension of Jesus, the disciples found themselves in another room. Jesus’ promise was fulfilled.
